Those familiar with mechanical equipment are mostly familiar with common port machinery parts. So what are the common port machinery parts? For example, tire cranes, trolleys, and beams are relatively common port machinery parts. Many people are not familiar with tire cranes. Below, we will introduce tire cranes and the difference between tire cranes and car cranes.
Those familiar with mechanical equipment are mostly aware of common port machinery parts. So what are the common port machinery parts? Examples include tire cranes, trolleys, and beams, which are relatively common port machinery parts. Many people are not familiar with tire cranes, so below, we will introduce tire cranes and the difference between tire cranes and truck cranes.

I. What is a tire crane? What is a truck crane?
A tire crane is a tire-mounted crane; the English name is wheel crane . A truck crane is a truck-mounted crane; the English name is truck crane ; both belong to mobile cranes. A truck crane refers to a crane whose lifting operation part is installed on a general-purpose or special-purpose truck chassis and has the driving performance of a truck.
In fact, what we see more often is a truck crane, also known as a truck-mounted crane. Sometimes when we see a car overturned on the road, we need a truck crane to help. A tire crane is a full-rotation crane that mounts the hoisting mechanism on a special chassis consisting of weighted tires and axles. Its upper structure is basically the same as that of a crawler crane. To ensure the stability of the body during installation, the crane has four retractable outriggers. On flat ground, it can be lifted with a smaller lifting capacity and can travel at low speed without outriggers.
II. The difference between a truck crane and a tire crane
1. Different chassis. Truck cranes usually use truck chassis, while tire cranes usually use special chassis.
2. Different bodies. The former is long, the latter is short, and the turning radius is small.
3. Driving performance. The former has better driving performance than the latter.
4. Wheelbase. The former is narrower, the latter is wider. ( This leads to: the latter has better stability and does not need outriggers. )
5. Road surface requirements. The latter is higher than the former.
6. Outriggers. Due to the chassis, the front outriggers of the truck crane are in the middle of the body, while the front outriggers of the tire crane are closer to the front of the vehicle.
7. Different cabs. Truck cranes have upper and lower cabs; the lower cab is the driver's cab, and the upper cab is the lifting cab; tire cranes have only one cab, for both driving and operation.
8. Other additions. In order to overcome the inherent shortcomings of tire cranes, all-terrain tire cranes have emerged. Its four wheels are drive wheels and steering wheels. When the vehicle is moving on muddy and uneven ground, all four wheels transmit power, i.e., four-wheel drive, to improve the ability to pass through muddy and uneven roads. When driving at high speed on flat roads, only two wheels on the front or rear axle are used for driving to reduce energy consumption. This has both off-road performance and driving performance.
In summary, mobile cranes can be divided into tire cranes and truck cranes according to the chassis type: the former uses a special chassis, has a short body, and is flexible to operate; the latter's lifting operation part is installed on a truck chassis, has a longer body, and has the driving performance of a truck. As a common port machinery part, do you have a deeper understanding of the tire crane?
